Third Eye Locations · Garrett Robinson

The local eye in Brisbane.

Garrett Robinson has been finding locations and managing productions across Australia for over twenty years. His work spans automotive stunts, international documentaries, Vogue cover shoots and arena tours. In 2025 he scouted the Brisbane sequences for Gymkhana: Aussie Shred, working the river, the CBD and the surrounding precincts for one of the most-watched automotive films of the year. The 2032 Olympics is now pulling significant production infrastructure into the city. New precincts, upgraded river-corridor access, and a council film office that is actively courting international shoots.

When a production needs Brisbane done properly, this is who picks up. Not a coordinator. Not a production company. Garrett, personally, from first brief to final wrap.

Garrett has an uncanny instinct for understanding the location brief. His experience makes him a bloodhound for the perfect location, and his background in kinetic filmmaking means he knows how to find the wildcards nobody else would think to pull. Brisbane's Olympic Build

Brisbane's production sector has grown significantly as the 2032 Olympics transforms the city's infrastructure. New precincts, upgraded transport links, and council film offices actively courting productions. The access and goodwill that comes with that momentum is real and it is happening now.

Screen Queensland

Screen Queensland, headquartered in Fortitude Valley, runs the Production Attraction Strategy grant for qualifying international and domestic productions. Garrett can advise on eligibility at brief stage.

Year-Round Conditions

Brisbane stays warm and largely dry through the southern winter. Productions that would require Sydney in summer can shoot Brisbane in July or August without compromise.

Village Roadshow Studios

One of the largest studio facilities in the southern hemisphere sits on the Gold Coast, an hour south of Brisbane. Stage shoots, backlot, water tank. A full studio option within the same regional brief.

River Corridor Access

The Brisbane River runs through the city's most filmed precincts. Story Bridge, South Bank, Kangaroo Point Cliffs, New Farm. Brisbane City Council's filming team is experienced and the permit process is reasonably well-oiled for commercial productions.

Common questions about
filming in Queensland.

What does a Brisbane fixer do? Do I need permits to film? What locations are available? Can you cover Gold Coast? How far in advance should I book? What does a fixer cost? Can you handle Brisbane Airport arrivals? Do you work outside Brisbane?
A Brisbane film fixer is your local production partner on the ground. We handle location scouting across Queensland, permits from Brisbane City Council and Gold Coast City Council, local crew hire, equipment, logistics and on-set management. You bring the creative; we make it physically happen in Queensland.
Yes. Brisbane City Council requires film permits for commercial shoots in public spaces. Processing times vary from 2 days to 3 weeks depending on scale and location. The Gold Coast has its own permit process through Gold Coast City Council. National parks, beaches and heritage sites each have separate approval requirements. We handle all of this as standard.
Queensland has an extraordinary range: Gold Coast beaches, Brisbane's CBD and riverside, tropical Daintree and Cairns, the Whitsundays, the outback channel country, Lamington National Park rainforest, and the Darling Downs. It can double for the USA, Southeast Asia, and settings you haven't thought of yet.
Yes. The Gold Coast is a core market. Village Roadshow Studios, the beach strip, hinterland, and the M1 corridor are all well within Garrett's network. Many productions use the Gold Coast as a base and shoot Brisbane in the same trip.
For TVCs and branded content, 4 to 6 weeks is comfortable. For features and high-end TV, 8 to 12 weeks allows proper location scouting, permit applications, and crew booking. We have turned around fast-track Brisbane shoots with under a week's notice when needed.
A Brisbane film fixer typically charges between $800 and $2,500 AUD per day, depending on project scope and services required. Third-party costs (crew, permits, equipment) are charged separately on a transparent cost-plus basis.
Yes. We handle arrivals logistics, accommodation, transport and equipment from touchdown. Whether your crew is clearing customs at Brisbane International or flying on from Sydney, we coordinate it from the first call.
Absolutely. Queensland is the point of difference. We regularly operate across the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Cairns, Townsville, the Whitsundays, and further afield. If the script calls for tropical, desert, reef or rainforest, we know how to get there.
